The SEE-GL (Skills and Employment Enhancement in Green Logistics) project is a groundbreaking initiative designed to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the transport logistics sector in the Western Balkans. As this region experiences rapid urbanization and economic transition, there is an increasing demand for modern, sustainable logistics solutions. However, the sector also faces critical barriers, including inefficiencies in traffic management, a shortage of skilled professionals, and the urgent need to adopt greener, more responsible business practices.
SEE-GL is committed to addressing these challenges by revolutionizing vocational education and training (VET) in the transport logistics industry. Through collaboration between key stakeholders from five countries—Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo—the project seeks to develop a unified VET program that integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. By fostering a skilled, sustainable workforce, SEE-GL aims to enhance both the quality of education and the long-term viability of the logistics sector in the region.
The project’s innovative approach will focus on three main objectives: improving environmental sustainability in logistics, filling the skills gap in ESG logistics practices, and boosting employment by aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands. The core of SEE-GL lies in the development of a new VET curriculum designed specifically for the emerging role of ESG Specialists in Transport Logistics. This specialized curriculum will equip learners with the necessary skills to address the environmental and social challenges facing the logistics industry today, preparing them for sustainable careers in the sector.
In addition to curriculum development, SEE-GL will utilize cutting-edge digital learning tools to enhance accessibility and ensure that education reaches all corners of the region. Through the creation of an e-learning platform and digital hubs, the project will ensure that learners, especially those from remote or disadvantaged areas, have access to high-quality educational resources. The platform will feature interactive, multimedia content designed to engage students in both theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on training, facilitating learning experiences that align with modern industry needs.
One of the key components of SEE-GL is its emphasis on inclusivity. The project aims to ensure that marginalized groups, including women, people with disabilities, and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are included in the educational programs. By providing tailored training and resources, SEE-GL seeks to create more equitable opportunities for all learners, promoting diversity and social inclusion within the logistics sector.
Through partnerships between education providers, industry leaders, and policy-makers, SEE-GL will also work to strengthen cross-border cooperation in the Western Balkans. By promoting mobility among students, educators, and professionals, the project will foster a network of collaboration that transcends national borders, creating long-lasting partnerships and knowledge exchanges. These efforts will not only improve the quality of VET but also ensure that the educational programs remain responsive to the evolving needs of the industry and the labor market.
At the heart of SEE-GL is a commitment to sustainability—not just in the environment but in the education sector itself. The project’s outcomes are designed to have a lasting impact, creating a model for sustainable vocational education that can be replicated across Europe and beyond. By aligning the VET curriculum with the European Qualification Framework (EQF), SEE-GL ensures that its educational programs meet the highest standards, giving graduates the skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an increasingly green and digitalized logistics sector.
The SEE-GL project is not just about today—it’s about building a sustainable future for the transport logistics industry and the communities that rely on it. By creating new pathways for education, fostering greener logistics practices, and equipping a new generation of professionals with the tools they need to succeed, SEE-GL is setting the stage for a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future in the Western Balkans and beyond.
We invite you to explore the SEE-GL project and join us as we work together to transform the future of vocational education in green logistics. Together, we can drive positive change, empower individuals, and create lasting solutions for a sustainable world.
